bullet  General Notes:

Records of the DuBois Family Association, p 258 (Vol 3) conflict with the will of Cornelius as provided by the DFA (could have been an error in copying): The Heidgard compilation of the DuBois Family has Elizabeth DuBois marrying Conrad Ham, s/o Frederick Ham and and Christina (this is incorrect, for the entry goes on to quote his will of 1806 - it was Johan Conrad's will of 1806 which named an Elizabeth - Frederick Ham died in 1785). The will of Cornelius DuBois names a deceased daughter, Maria's, children, by George Albertson. It also names his daughter Elizabeth as wife of Geoge Alberston of Saratoga Co., NY. It could be that Elizabeth married her sister's husband when Maria died 5 June, 1822 at the age of 28. (This is doubtful.)

The following is from a biography written evidently by 'Aunt Bessie' as part of a letter to someone who had asked about Elizabeth DuBois:

"ELIZABETH DUBOIS; sixth child and third daughter of Cornelius and Charity Griffen DuBois kept house for her father until she reached middle life; she was forty-three when her mother died in 1827, and her father lived until 1834. His sons had each received a farm, upon their marriage; the daughters had a dowry. Betsy, fearing that she might be left without means, since she no longer hoped for marriage, sent for the muslin on each of the trips to town with produce - or got it herself, since 'butter and egg' money has traditionally belonged to the housekeeper. In this way she acquired the material to make up forty suits of underwear and had such a supply when she finally did marry. 528

bullet  Research Notes:

See the notes on husband Conrad which bring into doubt this record. It is very possible that she married Conrad at the end of his life. The children could not have been by Conrad, as Warren Ham indicates.
