A "Cousins Page"

For Internet links and E-mail connections.

Web Links: (these open in a new window)

Pease Mailing list: When this cousins page was first launched in the early 2000s there was a very active mailing list on Rootsweb, but now, in 2022 it seems that it has gone away, as one on Genforum has also.

My only suggestion is the Ancestry.com Message Board for Pease which is at https://www.ancestry.com/boards/surnames.pease which will open in a new window for logged-in subscribers. There are a lot of messages there, but not that many recently.

Given the age of this page I expect that a number of the email addresses here are no longer valid.

"Thanks Steve. As the result of your site, I have found two 3rd Pease cousins with whom I am corresponding !!!"

And thank you, Susan, for sharing that with me!

Individuals: (now on two pages)    Go to page two.
Disclaimer: These cousins were added roughly between 1995 and 2005. Many of the email addresses are likely redundant but you may be able to track down the people using search engines. Good Luck.

my father: John Leslie Pease, born 7/17/01 in Champagne, IL. He married Clara Elizabeth Queen 2/8/39 in Snoqualmie, WA. They had 2 children, David Allen Pease and me, Becky Ann Pease. He died 11/22/97.
John Pease's father was Arthur Pease of Chicago and Champagne, IL. He was a noted concert pianist who disappeared without being found when John Pease was about 2 yrs old. Arthur was married to Honore Kathleen (Cathleen?) Daugherty, who immigrated from Cork, Ireland. Arthur and Honore had 7 children. When Arthur disappeared the children were placed with various aunts and uncles and the nuclear family disbanded. They all lived in the Chicago area, however.
John Pease was in the US Navy and upon his discharge in approx 1929 did not return to Chicago, but remained in Washington state. He did not keep in touch with his siblings (who were primarily railroad workers and policemen).
Anne Collinge writes: "If I can be of help to anyone please feel free to e-mail me. Would be nice to find some Pease relatives of my own."

Fun Stuff

Duplication of Given names:   Many have noticed in the Yank line a number of Roberts, Johns, and James, and Lydia's. Well, this was recounted to me by Joseph Gurney Pease concerning the Brit line and why he is addressed as Gurney:

Tradition in my family has it that the Christian names 'Edward' and 'Joseph' HAVE to alternate with each generation, and that there was such a proliferation of these two, that I got lumbered with Gurney (a family name) to avoid confusion even though my first name is Joseph. When Charles (he being in the Edward generation) made this discovery early in his life he proclaimed "Our family doesn't have much imagination does it?"

Green Pease:  Matthew Pease (b. 1675), s/o James and Elizabeth, married Mary Green and had 10 children. Along about the ninth children their imagination must have been taxed, or they were funny people, because they named their ninth, Green Pease.

American Places named Pease:
Pease, Minnesota:  Becker County  454153N 0933852W (about 50 miles north of Minneapolis on US 169)

Paul Pease reports the following about Pease, Minnesota:  "I stopped in Pease MN many years ago as I was passing through and found the local historian to find out of the town was named after some forebear. Alas, I found that the Germans in town wanted to name it Frieden (peace) but decided at the last moment to use the English version, which they misspelled PEASE."

Pease, Missouri:  Laclede County    372941N 0923757W (about 40 miles northeast of Springfield)
Pease River, Texas  (flows into the Red River just northwest of Wichita Falls, Texas)
Getting Serious: The US Department of Geology (USGS - US Geological Survey used to have a great searchable database, but they have replaced it with a new Geography center that I still haven't learned how to use. Their home page is USGS.
