bullet  General Notes:

The records for the birth of Mary Daggett, the marriage of Mary Daggett and the death of Mary Daggett are a mystery to all researchers.

Mary's first husband, Daniel Higgins, died sometime around 1830 to 1832 in either Huron or Erie County Ohio. Daniel's grave has not been found but I believe he may have been buried on his property. Mary Dagget Higgins was married for the second time to Abram (Abraham) Studwell (sometimes spelled Steadwell) in October of 1832 in Huron County Ohio.

When the Saints left Ohio for the West, Mary and her husband Abram went with them. Several of the children of Mary and of Abram traveled with the Saints to Nauvoo, Hancock County, Illinois. Mary's son Nelson Higgins became the Captain of Co. D of the Mormon Battalion. At the time of the Mormon persecutions in 1846 at Nauvoo, the Saints left Illinois and traveled to Winter Quarters, Nebraska which was on the west bank of the Missouri River. The trip was devastating. Many suffered terrible hardships, sickness and death while traveling to Winter Quarters, 600 are buried in the little cemetery there. It is said that more died on this trek of the journey than at any time during the march to Zion.

Mary and Abram are found in the 1840 census of Nauvoo but after that I can't find record of either of them. Mary and Abram may have taken this dreadful trip and been two of the Saints who perished along the way. There is no record of burial for either Mary or Abram Studwell. They may be buried someplace along the Mormon trail.
