Rachel Field
(1780-1851) |
Rachel Field 1268
FamilySearch ID: LWV9-44L. Find a Grave ID: 7741399. General Notes: Rachel was of a very strong Quaker background although she was likely disowned for marrying outside the faith. I have not found a primary source for that, but Levi, her husband, had been disowned so it is very likely. Her father and mother appear quite frequently in the Quaker meeting minutes. Events • Witness to marriage: of father to widow Mary Watson, 27 Mar 1800, Catawissa, Northumberland Co., PA. 1263 • Land: sold to John Evans, 3 Apr 1807, Hemlock Township, Northumberland Co., PA. Citation from Ryan Wadleigh 6/27/2021: • Census, 1820, Richmond, Wayne Co., IN. see Husband's notes • Census, 1830, Washington Township, Wayne Co., IN. 1268 • residence, 1830, Washington Township, Wayne Co., IN. • Religion. Quaker - Disowned for marrying outside of the faith • Cemetery: Franklin Cemetery, 1851, Milton, Wayne County, IN. 1269 Find A Grave Memorial# 7741399 Rachel married Levi Willets, son of Issac Willets and Elizabeth [Poss. Wilson], 2 Nov 1797 in Pennsylvania 1259.,1260 (Levi Willets was born 29 Dec 1777 in Catawissa, Columbia Co., PA,1259 died 2 Mar 1828 in Wayne County, Indiana and was buried in Milton, Wayne County, IN 1259,1261.) Marriage Notes: Their marriage is recorded as in 1798 in the Exeter Monthly Meeting Records which makes one wonder if she was ever really disowned. Rachel next married William Getson Kerlin 18 May 1837 in Wayne County, Indiana 1266.,1267 (William Getson Kerlin was born 20 Apr 1790 in Shenandoah Co., Virginia 1270 and died 4 Sep 1876 in Washington Township, Wayne Co., IN 1262.) |
