General Notes: "Joost Hite, his wife and daughter Mary, with sixteen Dutch and German families whom he brought with him to settle his land, sailed from Strasbourg, Germany, on his two boats, the brigantine 'Swift' and the schooner ' Friendship.' They reached Kingston in 1710. In 1716 they went south to Pastorius' Colony, Germantown, PA, where he bought and sold land, introduced weaving, and established a mill which is standing on Perkiomen Creek at Schencksville. He made his will in Frederick Co., VA in 1757, died in 1760, and is buried at Bunker Hill Churchyard." , p26. 528 Joost married Anne Dubois, daughter of Jacques Dubois and Pierronne Bentyn, in Leyden, Holland. (Anne Dubois was born in 1669 and was christened 11 Aug 1669 in Walloon Church Of Leyden.) |
