Lived in the north part of Dorchester.
According to tradition he built a house for himself about 1650. This house remained in the family until 1825. Still standing in 1895, it was ordered removed for a street widening. The Dorchester Historical Society secured it and fitted it for the purposes of the Society, moving it to Richardson Park.
"Mr. Blake was a busy man. From 1658 to 1685 there is scarcely a year when his name does not appear in connection with some official duties in the town. He was selectman thirteen years, rater, constable, deputy to the General Court, clerk of the writs, recorder, sergeant in the military company. He also served as deacon about 14 years, then as ruling elder for the same term until his death." p29 758
