(-1726) |
Ruth Peck
General Notes: Daughter of Rev. Jeremiah Peck, son of William Peck, one of the original settlers of New Haven. William Peck was a teacher and also one of the stricter believers in the religious principals of the New Haven Colony. He would not abide, in 1677, the union of the New Haven colony with the 'lax and broader principaled" Colony of Connecticut. He, along with a few others, left for Newark, NJ at that point. Ruth married Jonathan Atwater, son of David Atwater and Damaris Sayre, 1 Jun 1681. (Jonathan Atwater was born 12 Jul 1656 in New Haven, Connecticut and died 3 Jun 1726 in New Haven, Connecticut.) |
