Wm.J.Spicer and a solicitor following the death of her sister in 1948, Kate was deemed a "certified mental patient" and unable to act as one of the administrators of her sister's estate. Andrews, a bank manager and his family. Kate is listed as a visitor, age 24; "Farmers Daughter" is crossed out; Birthplace is Langton. • Education: Winchester College, 1881, Winchester, Hampshire, England. 90 Per the 1881 census of Winchester, Kate and her sister were living in a boarding house at 9 Kingsgate St with a number of other scholars. According to the history of Winchester College, "In 1855 the seventy Scholarships were thrown open to intellectual competition and in 1862 three separate boarding houses, each under the supervision of a housemaster, were in existence but it was under the Headmastership of Dr Ridding (1867) that major changes were made. He added six new boarding houses (another was added in 1905), converted pre-existing buildings into useable classrooms, increased the teaching staff, and by reclaiming the marshy bog south of Meads, presented the School with its main playing fields. "I can confirm that Kate was buried in the cemetery at the county asylum on 26th February 1957 - it says in the register that she was 87 years old. Kate married Frederic John Johnson, son of John Johnson and Clarissa Matilda Allen, 10 Oct 1893 in Affpuddle, Dorset, England. (Frederic John Johnson was born 5 May 1861 in Corfe Castle, Dorset, England 56 and died 23 Dec 1941 in Poole, Dorset, England 56.) |
