Thomas's 1645 christening is found on the Dutch Reformed Church records at New Amsterdam. He had an older brother Thomas christened at the same church in 1642 who died before 1645. Please do not confuse the 2.
Children by Thomas's first wife, probably Sarah Coles, were Temperance, Sylvanus, Freelove, Sarah and John. Freelove was born 1674. See "The Jones Family of Long Island, descendants of Major Thomas Jones and Allied Families," (New York: Tobias A. Wright, 1907), pages 26-27.
Thomas Townsend's daughter Freelove Townsend married Maj. Thomas Jones as many records attest. For example in a deed from "Thomas Townsend to Thomas Jones, June 1696 (Liber 4, p. 114, Queens County), Be it known that I, Captain Thomas Townsend, of Portsmouth, on Rhode Island, for and in consideration of my natural love and affections to Thomas Jones, of Rhode Island, my son-in-law, and to Freelove, his wife, my natural daughter....." , page 36, "The Jones Family of Long Island."
