General Notes: "Probably the most notable incident in the family of Thomas was the marriage of his four sons, viz: Richard, Thomas, Amos, and Isaac, who married first four sisters, viz: Sarah, Catherine, Mary, and Clement Hallock the daughters of John and Abigail Hallock of Brookhaven, Long Island. After the death of Richards' 2nd wife, he married Margaret Powell, a widow, who was born Margaret Hallock, and who was a sister to his 1st wife, finally completing the marriage of four brothers to five sisters" (Willets book citing Bartlett, page 63) Research Notes: WILLITS, Thomas (1650-1714) & Dinah [TOWNSEND] (1651-1732); ca 1672/3?, ca 1670?, Brookhaven, Setauket, LI; ?Jericho, LI/Islip, LI Events • Religion: Quaker after the death of his father. 2054 His father was not a Quaker but Thomas became a Quaker under the influence of his widowed mother. Thomas married Dinah Townsend, daughter of Richard Townsend and Deliverance Cole, about 1670. (Dinah Townsend was born in 1651 in Warwick, Rhode Island 2054 and died 18 Dec 1732 in Islip, NY 2054.) |
