Family Search entry for Edward has/had a second spouse as Consider Tiffany which is inaccurate. Consider was a male, son of Humfrey Tiffany and married Abigail Niles.

"5. Edward Mott (Nathaniel1), of New Shoreham, Kingstown, and Westerly, R.I., born at Braintree 11 May 1673, followed his brothers to Block Island, where he was a freeman in 1696, and constable in 1700. He married, 9 Dec. 1695, Penelope Tosh, widow of William, Jr. His family is the most obscure of all the Mott families of this generation. In 1703 he was at Block Island, but he removed to Kingstown by Mar. 1713, when he was sued by Capt. John Greenman of Kingstown for trespass (Newport County Court Files). He resided in that part of Kingstown which was set off to South Kingstown in 1723, and he is found there as late as 1727. He became a freeman of Westerly 1 May 1730. Administration on his estate was granted 26 May 1735, to his widow Penelope, who was living as late as 29 Apr. 1751, when we find an account of the town of Westerly with Nathan Burdick for going to 'ye presten' after widow Mott's goods.The births of his children appear nowhere in the vital records of the towns in which he lived, nor do the probate records of his estate furnish any complete list, but from certain deeds at Westerly, the record of the settlement of his estate, and various items in the town records it can be shown that he had issue as below."

(Seven children are named in the Moriarty article in NEHGR ): John, Hannah who married John Mott of Lyme, Sarah who married William Thorn, Samuel (father of General Samuel Mott), a daughter who married John Lewis, ?Abigail (probably) who married Samuel Worden of Kingstown, ?Patience (probably) who married Nicholas Holway of Kingstown.

A number of inconsistencies in the birth dates of his children between the Family Search family and the Niles genealogy online at Genealogy.com. There are twelve children in FS, nine in the Niles genealogy.

• Land: Lyme: Joshua's Town, 1/2 of 1/3rd purchased from Nathaniel Niles, 1701, Lyme, CT. Nathaniel² Niles never lived at Joshua's Town himself, but in 1701 he
sold his property to a partnership of men from Block Island: one-third to
John Banning, one-third to Consider Tiffany, and one-third divided
between Ephraim Tiffany and Edward Mott (note 6). The Niles, Bannings, and
Tiffanys were related in various ways. Consider and Ephraim Tiffany were
brothers, sons of Humphrey Tiffany and his wife Elizabeth; Humphrey had
been killed by lightning in 1685, and his widow Elizabeth married Simon
Ray of Block Island soon after, moving there with her younger children.
Abigail, wife of Consider Tiffany, was the daughter of John Banning's wife
Abigail with her first husband, John Niles (note 7). It is probable that Bethia
Tiffany, wife of Ephraim, was born Bethia Tosh, sister of William Tosh, Jr.,
first husband of Penelope Niles (another daughter of Abigail (Banning),
who married as her second husband Edward² Mott (Nathaniel¹).

"Immediately after buying their third of the Joshua's Town property, Ephraim Tiffany and Edward Mott agreed that Mott should take two-thirds of it, and when Mott decided to move to the Rhode Island mainland instead of to Lyme, he sold his two thirds to Peter Ball."
