bullet  Research Notes:

The 1891 census has Maud in the household of Thomas Oates in Bristol with her "cousin" who is likely the daughter, Clare Oates Hensley (24), of Thomas and Anastasia Oates (58), who, according to the 1871 census, was born in Oakerswood, or Oakwood, Dorset (1 1/2 miles south of Affpuddle) in 1833.) That would make Anastasia (Woodrow) Oates Maud's aunt.

Unfortunately "Anastasia Woodrow" is not found under that name in the 1841 or 1851 census, although she is likely M Ann Woodrow (18 b. 1833) in the family of Charles Woodrow in Over Stowey, Somerset in 1851. This is likely the same family as below in 1861 with the exeception of the wife's name and the children who have left. Eliza, Austin and Kate, or Catherine, are young enough to be on Charles Woodrow's census in 1851 and 1861.

Anastasia is a Woodrow because she is found in the 1861 census in Somerset living as "Mrs. Oates," (26) the daughter of Charles Woodrow (50 - born in Sussex). She has an 11 month old daughter Pauline (granddaughter to the Head).
Charles is a 50 year old gamekeeper. Other members of the household are his wife Jane Woodrow. Daughters Agnes 17, Eliza 16, Catherine 11, son Austen 13.

"Mrs Oates" is the wife of Thomas Oates whose family in 1871 includes wife Anastasia (36) and daughter Pauline (10). Thomas is a bookseller in St. Augustine Parish, Bristol.

Puzzle: How is Maud related? The census evidence carries back for Charles Woodrow, born in Sussex in about 1811 to the above 1861 census, then to the 1851 census where he has the same family but with "Esther" as the wife. In 1851 there is a M Ann Woodrow, born 1833, who is gone by 1861. Both of those are in Somerset's Bridgewater registration district.

In 1841 there is, in Affpuddle, a Charles Woodword, born in Dorset, who has a wife Mary Ann Woodrow born in 1806 with a daughter Mary Ann Woodrow born in 1834.
Is she the same as M Ann Woodrow in the 1851 census of Charles Woodrow in Somerset?
