According to the biography in the History of Byberry and Moreland his father was John Gilbert who supposedly came to America in the "Welcome" with William Penn - no Gilberts are found on the Fleet of 23 page at https://www.chester.pa-roots.com/misc/individual_ships_of_penn.htm
so one assumes that this is just family tradition gone wrong.

Dated Nov 16, 1711 and proved the next year in November.

There are a number of names in the will, including son Joseph who is the executor.
No mention however of grandchildren by Phebe Comly. Other grandchildren are mentioned.

Joseph married Rachel Taylor about 1699. (Rachel Taylor was born in 1664 and died in 1749.)
