That she was a Howland or Newland by birth is unsupported. (Great Migration Begins)
However adamant a FS researcher is that he was not Mary Newland, there is an entry in Colonial Families of the United States (see her FaG for that page) that says she was Mary Newland, daughter of Lt. Wm. Newland and Rose, the widow of Joseph Holloway. ¹⁹⁹⁵

• Will: Proved first 26 April 1674 and second 8 April 1675, 8 May 1674, Duxbury, Plymouth Colony. ¹⁹⁹⁵ Names daughter Abigaill Young, son Zoeth, son John, daughter Mary Cudworth, son Samuel, daughter Sarah Denis, daughter Elizabeth Allin, son Joseph.

Mary married Henry Howland II, son of Henry Howland and Margaret, est 1628.²⁰⁰² (Henry Howland II was born 25 Nov 1604 in Fenstanton, Huntingdonshire, England ¹⁹⁸⁴, christened 25 Nov 1604 in Scrooby, Notinghamshire, England,¹⁹⁸⁴ died 17 Jan 1670/71 in Duxbury, Plymouth Colony ²⁰⁰³ and was buried in Jun 1671 in Duxbury, Plymouth Colony ¹⁹⁸⁴.)

  Marriage Notes:

Order of children in the Wakefield article is different than what is estimated in the GMB article; Wakefield order is as taken from mother's will. First child born probably in England, the rest either there or in Plymouth or Duxbury.
Marriage is given as 1624 in FS which is unlikely. Other references vary. Wakefield considers that the marriage probably took place in England where the first child was also likely born. ²⁰¹⁷
