  General Notes:

Evidently had ranging connections and property in Dorset as his will leaves monies to churches and the poor of Compton Valence, Frampton, Maiden Newton and Toller Porcorum. All those places are west and north of Dorchester. The manuscript states that he had a farm at Frome Billett. That borne out by DHC D-FLO/2717 and his will.

On death of John Wareham, Compton Valence, Gent, who died seised of manor of Maiden Newton, once the property of Cerne Abbey, and of other premises in Maiden Newton, Throop and Notton, by various feoffments made to him [details given]. He made will 9 Jul 1572, leaving estate to wife Katherine for life, then to sons Thomas, Robert, Edward and George. He died 16 Jul 1572 leaving son Thomas, aged 40, his heir, 2 May 1576
