bullet  General Notes:

March, 2022 update from Dan Talbot revises the lineage between William IV and on based on a new lease of Little Mayne Farm, having surrendered the 1625 lease. William IV took out a new lease of three lives, the three lives being himself; his son Stephen; and his grandson William, presumably the son of Stephen. (Dorset History Centre ref: D1/11749). I [Dan Talbot] have seen photographs of the lease, which was signed and sealed by William Talbot. William Talbot (IV) may have died after 1697. In that year, when his great-grandson Richard was born, he was described as the son of William Talbot junior; William Talbot senior would have been William Talbot (IV).

___________Older general notes:

The generations between William Talbot (IV) - 1623-1692 - and William Talbot (VII) - d. 1733 - are presumptive but there is a definite continuity of William Talbots between the two. There may have been another generation, or their may have been one less. As Dan Talbot says in his research:

" William Talbot (IV), the record becomes more uncertain. This is because the parish records of Broadmayne and West Knighton are patchy and also because we are lacking the wills of any William Talbots of Broadmayne between 1616 and 1781, apart from the administration of 1733. Nevertheless, we know there were William Talbots because of references to them in other documents."
It is best to see his notes, speculations, and the other documents mentioned to support this.
