On several occasions elected Constable of the Hundred of George, a position he held then for several years. For instance he was elected in 1753 as constable and then in 1769 other men were elected "...in the stead of William Talbot and..." (Quarter Session Books.)

The assertion that he is the William baptized in Broadmayne in 1742 has been put forward, but that badly smudged entry in the Parish register reads
1742 - "William Son of William and A [smudged] utt bas baptised 8th of October --- 1742"
This baptism was also recorded in West Knighton and is more clear that this William was the son of William and Ann Talbot. 1736
