bullet  General Notes:

Born in England, he emigrated to America in the 1880's as a young man, supposedly after a falling out with his father over a choice of careers. Henry wanted to raise and race horses, against his father's wishes. Very little is known about his life, either in England or Mankato, Minnesota where he settled, married and raised his family.

Unable to find his original arrival records, but he evidently returned to England for his father's funeral as his name appears on the ship manifest for the SS New York which arrived in New York from Southampton on September 5, 1903 and arriving on September 12. (Father died August 29th and it is quite possible that he traveled to England before his father's death. Manifest lists his address in America as 213 Beach in Mankato.)

There are other entries for travel to or from England: Jan 5, 1899 Henry Spicer, Stableman, English, age 33, from Newmarket, US Resident. But no address in America given. https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/7488/images/NYT715_45-0180 135
