• Gamekeeper List: Board of Stamps and Taxes, 6 Sep 1833, Dorset, England. 1029 "Woodrow, Charles, by James Frampton, Esq., for Moreton, Hurst, Affpuddle, Pallington, Bryants Puddle, Throope, Tonerspiddle, and Bovington." Certificate cost was 3£ 13s. 6d. Also a John Woodrow in the list. Very likely his son.

• Testified at a trial.: Dorset Lent Assizes - reported in Dorset County Chronicle, 20 Mar 1834, 20 Mar 1834, Dorchester, Dorset, England. 1030 In the trial of Charles Bascombe, John Brine, and Joseph Hall for poaching:

"Chas. Woodrow, gamekeeper to Mr. Frampton, in the evening of the 16th of Dec. last went towards Bovington; met John Cross there; when I arrived at the copse I heard a gun; in half an hour afterwards I heard another gun; when near Mead Cover I heard a third gun; on looking over the bank of the Cover I saw two men about 20 yards distant. I jumped over the bank and ran across the cover. I saw my companion Cross on the ground struggling with two persons; Bascombe was one of them; I heard a man say "come back;" I heard Cooling, a man who was assisting me, say that he had taken a gun; Bascombe and Brine were then sitting on the ground, and when I threatened to keep them there, Bascombe said he doubted whether I could do so; Cross and Cooling soon afterwards took the prisoner Hall. In Bascombe's pocket a pheasant was found.
Cross-examined by Mr Gambier - I gave Bascombe two smart blows with a stick when he was on the ground. I did not hear a cry of murder.
John Cross, an assistant keeper of Mr. Frampton's corroborated the testimony..."

The jury found the men guilty and were sentenced by Mr. Baron Williams (the judge in the Tolpuddle Martyr case the same assize) to three months imprisonment, which, in his judgment was lenient.
